Janna Finkel is a visual artist and educator. She holds a Master’s of Art History degree from Queen’s University and a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree from York University. Janna is a multifaceted artist working in a number of genres, primarily with Symbolist, Impressionist, and Surrealist influences.
The intense study and influence of various masters ranging from Monet, Chagall and Kandinsky to Soutine and Bonnard led her to a personal vision, rich with substance, content, and technical mastery. The combination of abstract nuances and a symbolist approach represent a convergence between three major concerns, the mastery of painting technique, the formulation of a language, and reinterpretation of the realms of the subconscious.
Janna has been exhibiting her work in several group and solo shows, which include exhibitions at Gallery Hittite, Studio Vogue Gallery, John B. Aird Gallery, The Gallery, and the 2010 Toronto Art Expo. Her works can be found in private and public collections in Canada and Europe.
